The Shepherd Boy's Resolve

For forty days, the Philistine champion Goliath stepped forth into the Valley of Elah. Standing over nine feet tall in bronze armor, his voice boomed across the hills, taunting the armies of Israel. Fear gripped every heart in the camp, and no soldier dared to step forward.

Young David, an auburn-haired shepherd boy delivering bread to his brothers, heard the giant's taunts. Unmoved by Goliath's size, David declared that faith was stronger than any weapon. Armed only with his shepherd's staff and five smooth stones, he stepped into the valley.
